TNANAF awards scholarships
The Northern Arizona Native-American Foundation awarded three scholarships for college to recent high school graduates in a ceremony on Saturday Dec. 6, in Wheeler Park.
Executive Director Brian Buckley and Board Member Genevieve Bennally presented Violeta Caballero, Courtney Etsitty and Samantha Leffler with $1,000 scholarships. The three had been selected based on their applications to TNANAF.
Violeta, a Flagstaff High School graduate, will pursue her degree in education and social work at NAU. Samantha, a former Coconino High School student and Paradise Valley High School graduate, will pursue her degree in art at NAU. Courtney, a Flagstaff High School graduate, will pursue her degree in mathematics at Arizona State University.
Founded in 2005, this is the third year TNANAF has granted scholarships to Native-American high school students from tribes in the northern Arizona region.
